The right question: which space are you using?
Choose according to the conversation, not only the app’s name. A message to a friend, a public channel and an AI request place your data in different contexts. Encryption protects a defined exchange; it does not make an entire service anonymous.

What encryption does not solve
- A recipient’s screenshot or copy can circulate outside the conversation.
- A compromised device can expose information displayed on it.
- A contact’s identity should be confirmed independently for a sensitive request.
- Backups, linked devices and profile information need separate checks.
Before inviting your group
Try the service with two people and non-sensitive information. Check invitations, administrator permissions, connected devices and leaving procedures. Ask members which tool they can actually use; group adoption matters as much as feature lists.
A channel can be useful for announcements. For a private discussion, start with protections for that specific space. Do not ask an AI to summarise a confidential document without understanding what will be sent to it.

Does Telegram encrypt every message end-to-end?
No. Distinguish cloud chats from Secret Chats. Check the conversation type, devices and documentation before a sensitive exchange.
Can I use the same criteria to choose a public channel?
Public broadcasting calls for checking audience, moderation and preservation of announcements. Personal conversation protections do not automatically apply.
